3/9/2014

Picture

Unintentionally, he did the most dangerous if not the most feared and hated by Don Paco question, the typical question that we always ignore, knowing that someday we slapped cheek and we reluctantly turn the other cheek, “Grandpa Paco, what is a fag? “asked the angel with laughing eyes, absent from all guilt, innocent before the storm that will fall once interpreted the doubt. It was the first time he heard that word and its closest confidant, the person he could ask for help interpreting all curiosity, was his paternal grandfather.

1 | La Cala Montjoi A a cove located in the Natural Park of Cap de Creus, that can be reached by car. This beach is very relaxing because due to its position, it doesn’t receive a lot of waves or wind. The sand is coarse and dark: you can sit, relax and enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery. It is in a great location, close to places for diving, camping, and especially because its proximity to one of the best restaurants in the world, El Bulli.

2 | Cala Sa Tuna Located in Begur, is one of the smaller coves on the list. With crystal clear waters and fine, golden sand, this is one of our favorite beaches. In addition, there are areas for the disabled and the elderly: this is a beach for families to enjoy!

3 | Platja Aigua Xelida This beach is located in the town of Tamariu. The sand is fine and golden in color, and is surrounded by rocky cliffs and pine forests. It was the favorite landscape of Catalonia by aTV3 program broad- cast in 2009. It can only be reached on foot or by boat, which is why it is less crowded and more exclusive.

4 | Platja Sa Sabolla This beach is located in the town of Cadaqués. It is a hard place to reach, so it is the ideal location if you want to find a peaceful place to take someone special. The water quality is very good, however, it is very deep.Very close to the beach is Cala Nans Lighthouse (1856), that although it is not possible to go inside, you can still appreciate the beautiful views of Cap de Creus and Cadaqués.

5 | San Pol Beach Located in Sant Feliu de Guixols. The entire coast of this beautiful beach has many rocky coves. The beach is very well equipped with restaurants, parking, kiosks, deck chairs, and much more. One of its unique features is its shallow waters, which make it ideal for small children.

6 | Beach Port Bo This beautiful beach is a small cove located in Calella de Palafrugell. It has the infrastructure and services typical of a crowded beach in the summertime, and this is where the world-famous Habaneras Festival takes place. It also has good restaurants, sunbeds for rent, showers, parking, and is handicapped accessible. Due to the quality of its waters, it has won the EU Blue Flag for several years in a row.

7 | Platja Es Castell This represents the most pristine beach on the Costa Brava. Located in Palamós. Over the years people have fought to keep these places uns- poiled, especially in 1994 with the refusal to build over the land with a golf course. This place is special for many reasons: there will be no fur ther development, and we can find a nearby Iberian settlement. In summer this is a very popular beach.

8 | Boadella Beach Located in Lloret de Mar, Boadella is authorized as a nudist beach. If you are looking for tranquility and to feel free in an environment where everyone is naked, this is your place. To get here you have to find the path that leads to it; ironically it is not so apparent to the “naked eye”. The sand is fine- grained and the beach is frequented by gay and straight people alike.

9 | Aiguablava Beach Located in Begur. Its sands are golden and fine, while its waters, as the name implies, are bluish and shallow. From this beautiful, unspoiled beach you can see the Cap de Begur and the mountains that rise around the village. The Cova d’en Gispert is between this beach and Aigua Xelida, and can be reached by kayak. It is a cave 150 meters high at its highest point, but smaller at other parts inside.

10 | Cala Fonda It is located on the Cap de Begur. Not the busiest in summer, so it has managed to maintain relative anonymity and has dark gravelly sand. It is one of the most interesting coves of the Costa Brava, as it is situated on a cliff that, depending on the sun, has a lot of light or just a little.
